Why are WoW servers down?

heard something about new hardware changes.. and if so didnt they run the new hard ware on the test servers... all its going to do is improve graphics which is friggen awesome but at the same time means more lag.. or atleast to my knowledge. i could be wrong

I heard the new hardware is amazing. The Test Realm servers where indeed showcased on the the new hardware servers and all I can say is that they must have been just as populated at the time as some of the oldest servers online today. They ran perfectly smooth. Just to clarify one thing: new servers will not reconstitute the game's graphics; it will, however, increase the rate at which those graphics are processed on the server side. Everything should be alot better soon.

They are updating the new hardware again I think. Also... new graphics does not mean more lag unless your graphics card sucks. If it does, simply turn your graphics settings down.
