I need some good warrior protection specs, seeing as I am nearing 60 now. I was thinking this:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warriors/talents.html?0500500000000000000505000000000000050230110530202151

But I dunno. Give me insight.

Here's one:

Fury Mastery
Cruelty Rank 5
Fury Total: 5

Protection Mastery
Shield Specialization Rank 5
Anticipation Rank 5
Toughness Rank 5
Improved Bloodrage Rank 2
Last Stand Rank 1
Improved Shield Block Rank 3
Improved Revenge Rank 3
Defiance Rank 5
Improved Sunder Armor Rank 1
Improved Taunt Rank 2
Improved Shield Wall Rank 2
Concussion Blow Rank 1
One-Handed Weapon Specialization Rank 5
Shield Slam Rank 1
Protection Total: 41

Arms Mastery
Deflection Rank 5
Arms Total: 5

Edit: I don't really think you'll need Tactical Mastery considering you'll be in Defensive Stance the entire time. That's only if you plan on doing end-game instances all the time, nothing else.

I really don't think I can live without tactical mastery. D:

That's for Warrior... Although I favor it over Shaman... I just donno.

A few things i'd like to point out to you Tinker, you are obviously going for a protection build but you are giving up one of the best talents in the Protect line, Shield Spec. Not only does it increase your block chance but it gives you extra rage. That alone can replace unbridaled wrath in increaseing rage generation, but trust me when you are a tank you will have no problems with running out of rage. The two next biggest things I have against your current build is that TWO of your talents rely on being the victim of a critical strike, YET you are putting points into a skill to increase defense which as you know reduces your chance to be the vicitim of a critical strike (and +dodge + parry +block) but if you are a tank your def will usually hover around 400. If you have 450 you will NOT be getting crit by mobs. That illiminates your two crit reliant skills and thus wastes 8 of your talent points. Here is my rebuild of your talents with a few slight modifications, feel free to ignore me completely, I'm just pointing out things I see.

Now onto my builds. My def build tries to keep some form of PvP aspect. But I stand by my opinion Def Warriors are still to gimped to be worth a damn on a PvP server.

My PvP Build. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warriors/talents.html?0532502030241000310550010400500000000000000000000000

My Defensive Build. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warriors/talents.html?2502502000000000000000000000000000050255103530202101

Although I have found being a Def warrior does not yield enough positives to tanking to outweigh losing your pvp skills.

Yeah its cookie cutter but it works and i consider myself good with it. I love warriors and they are the only charecters I ever enjoyed enough to make it to endgame with. So far I have one 60 protection warrior and one 60 PvP warrior, now Im working on Rotton on Malestrom and ill decide when I hit 60 how to best use him in the guild. With all the warriors I play I think I have a fair bit of knowledge of them. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

You know.. in my mind a warrior who goes so super heavy into protection that they suck at PvP is telling the world "I get stuck with crappy healers." Same with priests who go so heavily healing spec end-game, "I get stuck with crappy tanks and stupid aggro heavy mages." My past priest characters always came out with the same end-game build and I finally figured it out why. It wasn't because I needed to step up my abilities; it was due to other players making mistakes and end-game instances are less forgiving than any time before it. We change our talents to accommodate idiots (the usual PUG riffraff). Sadly, since most of this guild are not up to your level you may be stuck with some of the aforementioned people while doing some PvE right now.

If you play with smart players, something I feel this community consists of, I think you can play end-game with any spec you want. Fire Mages possibly being one of the exceptions due to the heavy fire resist at end game. End game is all about equipment and skill. Now, I am not saying I could go into MC with a whole bunch of points into Shadow and expect to really contribute effectively to the group but I can say I could have a few points and have it not hamper me.

Just be sure to have a shield in your hands for instances and I will be happy *grin*

That being said... Rotton knows warriors well and I like both his specs.

I totally agree, with a good skill base any class can play any spec and be sucessful endgame. Its all about teamwork and unity in the accomplishment of a common goal. In my old guild we were even sucessful with 3 pvp fire mages in MC runs because its all we had at the time. With enough plus dmg gear everything will die. Suprisingly a few of the bosses are not even fully immune to fire in MC. and most Trash are not 100% immune. They will all take some dmg tho not as much as a high dmg frost mage. But thats another story. I agree fully with Alad that its mainly a players skill and the skills of those he/she is grouped with.
