  • Change Log
Tired of walking your newly created characters from Ironforge to Loch Modan? Sick of endless runs from the Barrens to Camp Taurajo? TakeMeThere! 1.05 is what you need! It lets you store a path and then follow it until destination.

How to use it:
- Type "/tmt new [name]" to start a new path, for example "/tmt new Barrens to Taurajo" then just run. You will see a message in the chat log every time a waypoint is stored.
- Type "/tmt stop" or press the configurable stop key (default: End) to stop recording a path.
- Type "/tmt old [name]" to follow an existing path, for example "/tmt old Barrens to Taurajo" and watch your charachter run while you enjoy your favourite cookies and brush your teeth. Every time a waypoint is reached a message will appear in the chat log.
- Type "/tmt rev [name]" to follow a path from end to start. For example, "/tmt rev Barrens to Taurajo" will bring you from Camp Taurajo to the Barrens.
- Type "/tmt list" to display a list of all available paths in the chat log (4 lines per path).
- Type "/tmt shortlist" to display a list of all available paths in the chat log (one line per path).
- Type "/tmt rec" to switch between different ways of waypoint recording:
--- semiautomatic (default): waypoints are stored when you start and stop turning left or right (you can't use the mouse with this feature). If not explicitly declared, the mod uses your default left-right keys.
--- automatic: waypoints are stored when you start and stop turning left or right (may record a huge number of waypoints).
--- manual: waypoints are stored only when you press a configurable key (default: Numpad 5).
- Type "/tmt del [name]" to delete an existing path.
- Type "/tmt ren [old name]|[new name]" to rename an existing path.
- Type "/tmt autostop" to toggle autostop when attacked.
- Type "/tmt autoemote" to toggle autoemote when attacked or when reached destination.
- Type "/tmt verbose" to toggle all waypoint- and emote-related messages.
- Type "/tmt autopatrol" to toggle if restarting a path in reverse when reached the last waypoint.
- Type "/tmt help" to show a simple help.

How to get the best of it:
- "/tmt stop" and the stop key are also useful to stop following a path.
- "/tmt old" and "/tmt rev" can be used while following a path: in that case, paths will be appended to a queue and immediately started upon reaching of last waypoint.
- In automatic mode, TakeMeThere! stores a waypoint everytime you start and stop turning, so you better use the keyboard when recording a new path and try to run in a straight line for most of the time. If you don't, your SavedVariables.lua's size could grow VERY big and your character might sometimes exhibit erratic behaviour (the 'run in circle' bug, for example): using semiautomatic path recording is HIGHLY recommended.
- Try to avoid very narrow passages when storing a path: bridges are OK, but systematically walking close to a cliff could be dangerous! Also try to avoid very sharp turns, which in certain cases may lead to running in circle when following the saved path.
- Left and right turning, stopping and waypoint recording are key bound: you can configure those keys in the WoW key binding menu.
- Please let me know any bugs you encounter. My e-mail is in the .toc file.
- Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Future updates may include:
- a specific frame to display messages;
- a clickable list of paths;
- download of existing paths from a website;
- upload of missing paths to the above mentioned website.
There is no dependency information for this file.
- you can now append paths while following an old path;
- fixed a bug that could create null waypoints after border crossing;
- added key binding;
- added "/tmt rec" and "/tmt autopatrol" slash commands.

Yep, Blizzard pwnt this one in 1.6. They also don't seem like they are going to change their stance on this issue.

This mod can be deleted, it's just a waste of webspace.

No, it stopped working after the 1.6 patch, or if it was 1.5.. Either way, it doesn't work any more.

Is this still useable? I read in the community forums that these had been disabled.

Alright, if you could explain how it's hacking, go right ahead. I really hate people who use terms without really knowing what that term implies. "Hacking" is the process of either intercepting, reading, altering, and then substituting information, values, variables, etc. So if I made a mod that allowed me to open a window in-game, type in an ammount of gold, and POOF! I had that ammount of gold in game, THAT would be hacking. A mod that uses client-side inputs that are already there(admittedly, I'm speculating here, since I'm not a modder, and maybe this mod WAS sending higher level commands than the client-side should be capable of, which would also constitute hacking), is not hacking. That would best be described as using a MACRO, if the user is able to record and then execute the commands, without further user-control.

I'd be very worried about using this as it allows your character to be played without you controlling it directly - which is against the ToS. Now admittedly that's my reading of it - and my reading of the blue posts about UI mods and all that sort of stuff, so I could be wrong. Unfortunately Blue never seems to respond to posts about this sort of thing...

Also the most blue is likely to do to you if you have this addon (or any of it's ilk) installed is tell you "bad person, remove that addon or we'll suspend you until you do". Assuming of course they don't want you using it.

The simplification of the blizzard policy is as follows (from their website) :-
We definitely want people to create their own UIs utilizing custom menu configurations, graphics, and even sounds. Anything that can be coded to modify the style and the look of the UI is fair game, as long as the modifications are done to the sanctioned internal files of the game. However, anything done to the UI to gain any sort of an unfair advantage over other players is unacceptable.

An addon that allows you to auto-travel somewhere does give you an unfair (if only slightly) advantage over others that don't use the addon in that you can leave your computer while the addon has you off moving, which means while you are moving somewhere you can visit the bathroom - I can't unless I fly there - which I can't do while travelling between (say) Camp Taurao and Crossroads or vice-versa.

It's borderline, but as has been proven with other mods in the past if blizzard does not want you to do that, they will break the functionality the mod uses in a new patch.

I personally don't use it as I feel it breaks the ToS as providing me an unfair advantage over the people who are forced to be in control of ther character all the time, your morals and ethics will dictate your feelings on the matter :-)

It was controversial for a while, they haven't removed the functions yet so I don't think they will.

You should be safe to use it.
