BeneCast: What's it do?
BeneCast is a tool to help the player cast beneficial spells on themselves, their party members, and friendly targets. It does so by allowing the player to pick and choose what spells they want to show up as clickable buttons next to the intended target from the BeneCast interface. Open up the BeneCast interface by clicking on the Minimap button, with the slashcommands /benecast and /bc, or binding a key to BeneCast Options under KeyBindings in the main menu of the game. In the BeneCast interface you can set up which spells you want to show as buttons. You can set it individually for each, or set them all to use the player as the default. You can also adjust the button size for the associated button frame when selecting spells. You can move around the button frames if you don't like their position. You can unlock/lock the frame in place by right-clicking on the frame(not a button) and clicking it on the menu. Click and drag the frame (not the buttons) to move it around. If you can't remember which frame is which, right-clicking on it will reveal the name of the intended target. You cast the associated spell when you click on the button. Nifty. There can be notification for when you cast a spell through BeneCast if you so choose. To set up the notificaiton options open up the BeneCast interface and click on the setup tab in the configuration frame. Heal spells show up all the time, but blink if they're heal over time spells and the intended target currently is under the effect of that specific heal. Cure spells only show up when the intended target has an effect on them that the spell cures. Buffs show up whenever the inteneded target does not have the buff on them. Nifty New Stuff Key bindings for the spell buttons! Bind keys to the buttons 1-10. These key bindings are for the player buttons if there is no friendly target, and the target buttons if there is a friendly target. Overhealing is now an option when you're doing damage based heals. Hold down the control key while doing a damage based heal to overheal by the number of ranks you set in the configuration. You can also set it so you always overheal in the configuration. Tooltips everywhere! I got tired of people not reading the README. So now there's documentation all over the place! BeneCast: Who can use it? Currently these classes can benefit from the use of BeneCast: Druid, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Shaman, and Warlock

January 11, 2006 - 6:52 pm [ Reply ]Edit benecast.xml
Search for "BeneCastMember9"
Change the whole line to this:
<Button name="BeneCastMember9" inherits="BeneCastMemberTemplate" id="9" parent="UIParent">
If you are getting errors when addon loads, delete the file benecast.lua in your \WTF\<your account>\<your character>\SavedVariables folder.

January 6, 2006 - 11:45 pm [ Reply ]I really love this mod, but I'm having lots of issues with the latest patch. It seems that the mod only works on your own character, and whenever i try to select any other characters the benecast buttons appear greyed out.

January 4, 2006 - 1:52 am [ Reply ]Will you be updating this soon? I am getting error messages since the 1.9 patch.
Also, what happened to the ability to make the casting bars and icon moveable and the ability to set what is cast for each class?

October 21, 2005 - 4:10 pm [ Reply ]Skurel, for the heal spells do you have BeneCast check which level spell to offer before or after the button is pressed?
An option to disable Benecast's checking whether to offer buff spells, and another one to disable choosing what level spell to use might be handy. I'd definitely use it, because while disabling these abilities takes a lot out of benecast's repertoire, I'd still like to be able to turn them off in lag-heavy environments.
Thanks for creating this addon. It works like a dream.

August 29, 2005 - 9:20 am [ Reply ]Personally, I believe this is one of the best mods for WoW if you are a priest. I have noticed it can be a bit buggy, but haven't experienced major hang times while switching targest as posted by Nidifice.
I love BeneCast, but I would like to suggest a couple of improvements because there are a few things about it that is really annoying.
BeneCast buttons overlap the Auction house. When I right click Auctioneer, it selects him and shows his benecast buttons that overlap the Auction house window. Is there are way to program: (If AH open > then disable Benecast)?
Priest racial abilities don’t seem to be included, at least not Feedback (human priest)
Add a toggle to show and hide BeneCast buttons, how hard could that be?
Finally, the most irritating thing for me is that it seems that the x and y coordinantes of BeneCast buttons for group members is in relation to the top left corner of the screen. This creates a problem when u have Hunters or Warlocks in the group that have pets/minions because the pet/minion shifts the rest of the group down and the buttons are then offset. A solution to this problem would be to make it so the x and y coordinants of the buttons are set in relation to the group member position on the screen, if that is possible. Perhaps this would be the hardest of my three suggestions to implement, but it would certainly make the mod 200% better in my opinion.
Thank you. Please let me know if you are able to fix or implement any of these.
BeneCast fan,
Chuxter
