| Today, however, I download a few new mods, log in, and am greeted by an explosion of loading messages. I traced the problem to the Eloquence mod ( http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/...-eloquence.html ), which I'd just downloaded. If I disable this mod at the character screen, I don't get the loading messages; if it's enabled, StopTheSpam doesn't work. :(. |
I have the same problem. Maybe time for an update? :D

This addon has been working almost perfectly for me since I started using it about two weeks ago. The only things that were getting through were:
SimpleAssist (chat window) - http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2041
Call To Arms (banner) - http://www.wowguru.com/ui/79/calltoarms-lfg-mod/
QuestItem (banner) - http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=1322
I've been meaning to come report them here but hadn't got around to it.
Today, however, I download a few new mods, log in, and am greeted by an explosion of loading messages. I traced the problem to the Eloquence mod ( http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2752-1-eloquence.html ), which I'd just downloaded. Pinky's enhanced trade, http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=2329
It tells you the version and how many items you have in your bank on load.
Keep up the fight! It's appreciated :D

October 7, 2005 - 9:24 am [ Reply ]I redesigned the filter to catch even-later-load-spamming addons like AuctionIt on a case-by-case basis since I don't want to filter out certain messages from addons that have a legitimate purpose like MailTo delivery notifications, for example.
I should probably update that screenshot. Warsong Gulch? Who goes there anymore!

October 2, 2005 - 1:11 am [ Reply ]AuctionIt gets past STS also, probably the same way Ace does as it is the same author. http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=453 AuctionIt also prints a banner message onload as well.
I already have the addon, I don't know why authors think they need to advertise to people who already got their product.

September 25, 2005 - 12:45 pm [ Reply ]Found the bug that was causing that, Devla. The event I was using is only triggered on login but not on reload. I found a new event that fires more reliably and much later in the login/reload sequence.
Also, it looks like Ace is passing its print messages through as if they were /say messages. StopTheSpam flagged it as valid and let it slip through. I reallly (yes, with three L's) like the Ace addon framework but there's no reason to be passing the chat message ID for /say messages like they're doing. Until the Ace developer(s) see the Light and stop their naughty ways, I've constructed a special case to stop their load spam.
The fix will be posted later this afternoon.
I lied, the fix was posted several days later.

September 25, 2005 - 5:06 am [ Reply ]Noticed a strange problem recently
When doing a /reloadui some /slash commands for other mods do not appear in the chat window after the reload. If I logout, then log back in, the slash commands appear normally.
I went through a process of elimination, enabling 3 mods at a time, and narrowed the culprit down to StopTheSpam
Other than that, I've been using it for some time and noticed this odd behavior after the 1.7 patch.
Thanks

September 21, 2005 - 10:25 am [ Reply ]Ace can be configured to be quiet, if I recall. Check out /ace for options. In the meantime, I'll "look" into it.
